History
Henderson County was created from Christian County in 1798. Richard Henderson's Transylvania Company had purchased 17 million acres from the Cherokee in 1775, but Virginia voided the sale. The commonwealth instead granted Henderson 200,000 acres at the confluence of the Green and Ohio Rivers.
